Zacatecas, Mexico
8,000 feet above sea level, in the Center of Mexico, you
will find Zacatecas. Look a little bit harder and you'll
find Pastor "Chuy" Ortega and the congregation of Agua
Viva. Jim met Chuy several years ago and felt a heart
connection immediately. Jim has travelled to Zacatecas
well over a dozen times, sometimes taking in work teams,
other times just spending time encouraging Chuy and the
church. Chuy and his wife Maria were able to visit the
U.S. for a few weeks in 1998
A welder by trade, Chuy grew up working in the mines and
running the streets of Zacatecas. He has a strong desire
to see the local people come to know Christ in a personal
way. Maria will make certain that you don't go hungry
during your visit while son, Issac and daughter, Anisa
have got to be the most adorable children in Latin America.
Agua Viva was recently able to purchase land, thanks in
large measure to donations from those involved with H.I.M.
Chuy is working on construction and continuing to pray
that God will streatch out his hand and touch Zacatecas.
Jim usually travels to Zacatecas a couple of times a year.
It's a great first trip for those wanting to journey outside
the U.S. Feel free to drop us a line if you'd be interested
in going with him.

You can also e-mail Chuy if you would like. He doesn't
speak English, but he does have an English/Spanish translation
program, so he'll be able to understand.
